Issue 2: xorg.conf… I found this file on the internet, it looks good, but they had formatting in it which I have stripped out (an xorg.conf file doesn’t support the crap they had in there)… website was something like helpdeskgeek, but now lost. Here’s a copy and pate from mine. This works, I think it’s crap free, and there’s nothing more in there (I left nothing out)

# xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
# Driver "vesa"
EndSection

Section “Monitor”
Identifier “Configured Monitor”
# Option “DPMS”
HorizSync 30-70
VertRefresh 50-100
EndSection

#Section “Screen”
# Identifier “Default Screen”
# Monitor “Configured Monitor”
# Device “Configured Video Device”
#EndSection

Section “Screen”
Identifier “Default Screen”
Monitor “Configured Monitor”
Device “Configured Video Device”
DefaultDepth 16
SubSection “Display”
Depth 16
Modes “1280×1024” “1024×768” “800×600”
EndSubSection
EndSection
