Open source meeting software http://www.dimdim.com

Another netcast I found interesting but haven’t had a chance to try yet. Instead of www.gotomeeting.com or www.webex.com, there’s an open source free alternative called dimdim at www.dimdim.com. Max number of people in meeting for the free edition (http://www.dimdim.com/products/dimdim_editions_free.html) is 20 – which I don’t think would be a problem! They offer a “pro” (and enterprise) edition (hosted on their servers) for more users.

You can also download it (http://www.dimdim.com/opensource/dimdim_open_source_community_edition.html) and host your own meeting without using their servers AT ALL. I also just noticed that they also have a 1.5 gig “software appliance” image – I am guessing that this is a vmware applicance, so you could use the vmware player (http://www.vmware.com/products/player/) or server (http://www.vmware.com/download/server/) and host your own meetings for no money and no hardware, and no effort!
