www.gmap-pedometer.com to Garmin Course   1 comment

Step 1: Get the GPX data

Go to http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx

Firefox: Drag the following link to your browser’s bookmark toolbar.
Internet Explorer: right-click on the following link and “Add to Favorites…”
This is the link: GMapToGPX

Go to somewhere like http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1552464 and while you are looking at it, click on the link you created in the previous step. Your page will suddenly turn to text, and you will probably have no clue what it means, but (in the window) select all of it, and then right click and select copy. Open Notepad, and do an Edit paste. Save it as something you’ll remember *.gpx (and where you will remember)

Step 2: Convert from GPX to CRS

GPX 2 CRS program link: http://www.niniu.com/Garmin/Gpx2Crs.zip

Run Gpx2Crs.exe and browse for the file. Select your simulated speed (ie, best guess at what you might do) and then click on convert. Save as *.crs file.

Step3: Open Garmin Training center, and click on File, Import Courses, and select whatever you saved it as.

Now, connect your garmin to your pc, and click on File, import courses, and select your file.
Click on File, send workouts and courses, and you are now 99% done.
Start your Garmin, and click on Mode until you see training, select courses, and select Do Course. It will tell you how far you are from the end, and when you go off course.
